Polioviruses in Germany: Red alarm level according to new evidence!

Dresden, Deutschland - alarm level red in Germany! After the terrifying find of polioviruses in cities such as Munich, Bonn, Cologne and Hamburg, positive tests have now also been confirmed in the sewage treatment plants of Dresden, Düsseldorf and Mainz. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) hits their hands over the head: in all seven regularly examined cities, the dangerous pathogens have been demonstrated! The tests have been running since 2021 and are now showing worrying results.

But what does that mean specifically? The discovered viruses are not the dreaded wild types, but come from the swallowing vaccination against paralysis. These weakened but living viruses can be excreted and spread by vaccinated people for up to six weeks. The RKI warns: Although the swallowing vaccination in Germany is no longer used, there could still be a transfer, especially for unvaccinated people who come into contact with the viruses. A nightmare for public health!

increased vigilance required

The last cases of poliomyelitis in Germany date from 1990, but now the danger could return! The RKI has informed all state authorities about the new evidence and demands an immediate increase in vigilance. The possibility that polioviruses circulate in Germany cannot be excluded. The health authorities have to act quickly to stop a possible local spread.

Polio, also known as paralysis of children, is a highly contagious disease that can lead to lifelong paralysis in insufficiently immunized people. The nationwide vaccination rate is around 90 percent, but the RKI warns of existing vaccinations. Medical staff and health service employees must now be particularly attentive in order to recognize and act symptoms at an early stage. A call to vaccination is more urgent than ever!
