Justin Butler moves to SV Sandhausen: BVB talent with new number 10!

The third division club SV Sandhausen has signed a promising new signing: Justin Butler is moving from Borussia Dortmund (BVB) to the Baden team with an immediate transfer. The transfer was announced on Friday, January 3, 2025. Butler, who was previously active in BVB's U23 team, brings a breath of fresh air to the SV Sandhausen offensive, where he will wear the number ten shirt.

The 23-year-old German-American, who came to Dortmund from FC Ingolstadt in the summer of 2023, made 25 appearances for the U23s last season and scored one goal. His contract with BVB would originally have expired in the summer of 2025. During his career, Butler had already gained experience in the third division, including at FC Ingolstadt, where he played 49 games and scored three goals and three assists. He also played on loan at SV Waldhof Mannheim in 2022 and celebrated winning the Badischer Ladespokal.

Enthusiasm at SV Sandhausen

Squad planner Gerhard Kleppinger is enthusiastic about Butler's signing and emphasizes his speed, technique and offensive flexibility. Head coach Kenan Kocak also emphasizes the dynamism and versatility of the new winger and striker, which make him a valuable addition to the team. Butler began his football training at FC Augsburg before moving through the youth departments of FC Bayern Munich and playing in the U19 Bundesliga and the UEFA Youth League. His height of 1.88 meters also allows him to operate in various attacking positions.

After 19 matchdays, SV Sandhausen is in tenth place in the 3rd division with 27 points, just one point ahead of BVB's U23, which is currently in training camp in Belek, Turkey.
