A dramatic control day in the Borken district! The district police authority took part in the cross -border "Roadpol" campaign, which was devoted to the topic of "Truck and Bus" this week. On Tuesday afternoon, intensive traffic controls were carried out on Bundesstraße 525 in Südlohn. The officials received support from the main customs office in Münster, while the northern feeder was closed to Landesstraße 572 for the checks. The focus was on the review of social regulations, technical controls and the driver's fitness.

The balance of control is alarming! A total of 8 trucks and 40 cars were checked. A structure was particularly striking, which was weighed at 50 tons instead of the permitted 40 tons. A Dutch tractor driver also had no necessary professional driver qualification. Another Dutch car had serious technical defects on the rear brake system, which led to the immediate prohibition of the onward journey.

The officials recorded several administrative offenses: three advertisements due to technical defects, three due to overloading, one due to a lack of qualifications, two for violations of social regulations and one due to insufficient securing. In addition, warning funds for inadequate load securing and the lack of driver's licenses were imposed. In four cases, security benefits had to be collected, since the drivers live in neighboring countries. The onward journey was prohibited. The control ended at 6:00 p.m. and once again shows the need for such measures to ensure traffic safety!
