The new building that stands right next to the Combi market at the northern exit is replaced by an old Aldi that was demolished in June last year. Originally, the new market was to be opened in November last year, but unforeseen additional work led to this considerable delay. Rumors about a decommissioning of the construction site due to alleged “undeclared work” made the round, but these were not officially confirmed.

The construction work and challenges

After the long phase of calm on the construction site, the construction company Schulte GmbH from Haselünne took over the work in April this year. The progress is now clearly visible; With a good 1050 square meters, the sales area will be 250 square meters larger than in the previous market. At the same time, a new parking lot with 150 parking spaces for Aldi and Combi was created, which improves accessibility in the region.

The concept of the new market is based on the latest standards that Aldi Nord has introduced. In addition to modern energy management, the market will also offer its own baking shop area. The offer of the new market is distributed on 1860 products, which is grouped in 18 product groups. Particularly noteworthy are environmentally friendly measures such as heat recovery, underfloor heating and the photovoltaic systems that are supposed to supply the building with solar energy.
