WHV welcomes TuS Spenge: focus on injuries and the flu wave!

An exciting handball duel is coming! On Saturday at 6 p.m. the third division team WHV will welcome TuS Spenge in the Nordfrost Arena. After a severe flu epidemic that decimated the team, the WHV returns with renewed vigor. Coach Christian Köhrmann is relieved that points are finally at stake again after his team recently boasted an impressive 35:25 win against VfL Gummersbach II and catapulted themselves to fourth place in the table.

The flu has left its mark, but the players are ready to play again. Particularly pleasing: goalkeeper Jakub Lefan, who is returning after a torn muscle fiber! However, Konstantin Madert injured himself while preparing food and had to be stitched. Köhrmann hopes that Madert can sit on the bench despite his injury. If that doesn't work, the talented A-youth Ben Ruhe is ready to guard the goal. The pressure on the team is increasing because TuS Spenge, with 13:5 points, is a serious opponent.

Injuries and transfers

For TuS Spenge, this game will be a first against a top 4 team. After a series of five games without defeat, they recently suffered a defeat against Ahlen. TuS has also lost its best goalscorer, Paul Holzhacker, who moved to second division club VfL Lübeck-Schwartau. To make up for the loss, Spenge has signed a new player with first division experience: Jonas Gertges, a talented left winger, will play for the team until the end of the season.

The last encounters between WHV and Spenge were exciting: While the WHV won 33:17 in their own hall last season, they had to admit defeat in the Herford district with 29:32. The anticipation for the upcoming match is huge - will the WHV continue its winning streak or can TuS Spenge pull off a surprise?
