Parking fees in Bad Bevensen increase: residents will pay 60 euros soon!
Bad Bevensen, Deutschland - In Bad Bevensen, parking is becoming more expensive for residents! From now on, the annual fee for residents' parking certificates increases from 30 to 60 euros. This decision comes at a time when the cost of living increases everywhere. City director Martin Feller from the Greens defends the increase: "60 euros are still unbeatably cheap," he says, comparing the costs with the horrendous 730 euros that you have to pay for daily parking on the Göhrdeparkplatz.
The city administration expects the new regulation to be doubled to almost 10,000 euros. Last year, the general parking fees were supposed to bring 50,000 euros in additional income. Parking at the Kurhaus currently costs 1.20 euros per hour, while the Göhrdeparkplatz with 50 cents per hour and the park-and-ride car park at the train station remains comparatively cheap with 2 euros per day. Feller emphasizes that such increases are never welcome, but necessary to improve the tense budget situation of the city.

The financial situation is serious: the reserves of the spa town are used up, and the draft budget for 2025 has a deficit. "This must be compensated for by savings or additional revenue," explains Feller. In order to get closer to this goal, property taxes were also increased. Feller makes no secret of the fact that the city administration would have liked even higher parking fees than they were ultimately decided. Ultimately, these measures should lead to more citizens switch to public transport and the parking spaces are released again faster.
