Anniversary trip of the FIT-AB-40 group: an unforgettable north adventure!

The GS Wesel fit-AB-40 group celebrated a remarkable anniversary this year. From September 20 to 21, 2024, 29 participants gathered for a special free time that led them to the far north of Germany. The trip included exciting stops in Oldenburg, Dangast am Jadebusen and Bad Zwischenahn and promised a varied program.

On Friday, the group started with a bus tour to Oldenburg. After checking in at the hotel, we walked to the extensive castle garden, which offered an ideal introduction to exploration mode. A highlight of the first stage was a visit to the impressive St. Lamberti town church. The charming old town of Oldenburg then attracted with inviting cafes and a fun stroll through the lively pedestrian zone.

activities and experiences on the North Sea coast

On Saturday the trip led the participants to Dangast on the Jadebusen, a small but fine place on the North Sea coast. Here the group promised many exciting activities. While some explored the art path "Coastal Art and Gea Painting", other other hikes on the terrain courses, which led through different climate zones, opted for extensive hikes. The Dangastwellbad and the National Park House are also among the popular excursion destinations in this region, which is ideal for relaxation and nature experience.

Afterwards, the tour group moved to the Zwischenahner Meer in the spa town of Bad Zwischenahn. Here the participants had free time. Whether on a quiet walk on the water or a boat trip with pedal or electric boats- there was something for every taste. The crowning glory of the day was a dinner together in the traditional restaurant "Spieker". The brave attempt to cost the regional "Ammerländer spoon drink" provided cheerful conversations at the table.

cultural highlights and view of the future

On Sunday, a visit to the Horst-Janssen Museum in Oldenburg rounded off the cultural program. Horst Janssen is one of the best -known artists in Germany for his work as a draftsman, graphic artist and illustrator internationally recognized. This not only offered a perfect opportunity to enter the art scene deeper, but also to honor the creative genius of the artist.

The wonderful late summer weather was another plus, which designed the stay in Oldenburg and the surrounding area particularly pleasantly. The hotel "Hermes", in a central location at the Oldenburg city harbor, turned out to be the ideal starting point for the activities. Here the group was not only spoiled with an excellent Mediterranean cuisine in the “Secco” restaurant, but also enjoyed dinner together on Friday and lunch on Sunday in a sociable round.

The planning for the next few years is already in progress: for 2025 the 41st leisure will lead to the Lüneburg Heath, and preparations are already in full swing. The participants look forward to what the future will bring.
