Warning strikes in Lower Saxony: IG Metall fights for 7% more wages!

In Lower Saxony, the metal and electrical industry is bubbling! The collective bargaining is stuck and IG Metall relies on a card with other warning strikes. The first protests started at noon and caused a sensation from the work of Thermo Electron LED in Osterrode, while demonstrations took place in Holzminden and Salzgitter. The employees show that they do not want to be satisfied with the previous offers from employers!

IG Metall has organized a variety of actions this week that reflect the anger and determination of the approximately 100,000 employees in Lower Saxony. In addition to Thermo Electron LED, Howmet Fasting Systems employees in Hildesheim, Kelvion Phe in Sarstedt and many other companies are also called to put their work down. In the first warning strike week, around 12,000 employees already participated in the outstanding - a clear signal to the employer!

The third tariff round ended after only 45 minutes. IG Metall is calling for a wage increase of seven percent for employees and 170 euros more for trainees, while employers offer an increase of only 1.7 percent from July 2025 and 1.9 percent from July 2026. The union is combative and announces further actions, while the employers' associations dismiss the claims as excessive. The pressure is increasing, and the next few days could be crucial for the future of employees in the metal and electrical industry!
