Serious accident on the L480: 20-year-old fights for his life!

In the early morning hours of October 12, 2024, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L480 road between Betheln and Gronau (Leine). At around 7:10 a.m., a 20-year-old from Hildesheim was driving his Hyundai from Betheln towards Gronau when, for reasons unknown, he left the road and collided head-on with a tree. The impact was so violent that the driver was seriously injured. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Hildesheim.

The rescue operation included not only two ambulances, but also an emergency ambulance and the support of 12 comrades from the local fire department. Due to the accident, the Lower Water Authority of the Hildesheim district also had to be called in to collect any spilled operating materials.

Another traffic accident took place on the same day at 4:10 p.m. on the B3 federal highway. A 66-year-old woman from Gronau was driving her Volkswagen towards Alfeld (Leine). As she wanted to turn left onto Rottenbachweg near the natural swimming pool in Banteln, a 61-year-old motorcyclist from Einbeck approached from behind on his Kawasaki. He intended to overtake the convoy and the two vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the collision and also had to be taken to a Hildesheim hospital, while the driver fortunately remained uninjured. Such incidents highlight the dangers of road traffic and the unpredictable risk factors that can lead to serious accidents. Both accidents are an urgent appeal to all road users to drive carefully and attentively.
