Mediation process: 400,000 euros for victims of abuse in the diocese of Hildesheim?

A dramatic case of abuse and a claim of 400,000 euros are the focus of a pain and suffering process against the diocese of Hildesheim. A court now suggests a solution!

In the Hildesheim district court, a pioneering mediation process was stimulated on Friday, which could soften the fronts between Jens Windel and the diocese of Hildesheim. Judge Jan-Michael Seidel brought this proposal during an oral hearing after he indicated that Windel's demand for 400,000 euros was probably not enforceable at the legal process. The reason? The deeds that describe the diaper could be time -barred, but this does not mean that he can no longer claim claims.

a step towards justice?

"We could imagine that the payment of a pain and suffering could develop a certain satisfaction with Mr. Windel," said Seidel, opening up the possibility of a mutual solution. In this mediation procedure, the two parties could negotiate the amount of the pain and suffering under the supervision of a property. Windel, who indicates that he was sexually abused by a priest as a child in the 1980s over two years, had sued the diocese after an out -of -court settlement was rejected.

The diocese of Hildesheim had initially rejected Windel's demand and referred to the statute of limitations. But now a new door could open up to justice that could bring the diaper and the diocese to a common denominator. The upcoming negotiations promise to be exciting!
