Helmstedter women achieve record price for old stamp collection at Bares for Rares

An exciting appearance at "Bares for Rares"! Anke and Grit Rothenberg from Helmstedt rolled into the studio with a handcart full of surprises: a collection of stamps that Grit had saved from their school. The biology and sports teacher wanted to get some money for her students with the sale. But the first hurdle was already waiting: Expert Sven Deutschmanek gave the couple a clear removal when it came to their prices.

The stamps, once an integral part of the lesson, had to give way because of digitization. Grit decided to offer the collection, which consists of 12 rolling stamps to human anatomy and probably dates from the 70s, for sale. Before meeting the dealers, Deutschmanek tested the stamps carefully and found that they were getting a bit old. The sun had let the boxes faded and the stamp pillow had dried out. But that did not prevent the Rothenbergs to hope for a price of 80 euros.

expert Knallhart: "I don't do that"

When Horst Lichter asked whether the professional would sign the price, the clear answer came: "I don't do that!" Deutschmanek started the price significantly higher: at least 20 euros per box, a total of 240 euros. And he should be right! The price literally exploded in the dealer room. Esther Ollick opened with 140 euros and fought an exciting duel with dealer Daniel Meyer. In the end, the stamps went over the table for an incredible 340 euros - and Grit was happy about a great prize that she can now use for her students.
