Thanksgiving in Bovenden: Colorful removals and bright sun!

The Thanksgiving Festival in Bovenden recently captivated thousands of people. This traditional festival, which is celebrated on the first weekend in October, is considered one of the largest events in the district of Göttingen. The weather played along, and the sun was beaming especially during the big parade that led through the streets of the city. A highlight of the celebrations was the almost three -kilometer parade, in which numerous groups and clubs performed in colorful costumes and with artistically decorated festival cars.

The parade, which led from the Plessesweg in the Oberdorf to Anger in the Unterdorf, attracted a large amount of spectators on Sunday afternoon. There were over 35 groups, the participants of which presented themselves in original costumes. A festival car was particularly striking, which showed a dinosaurs in a cage under the motto "Jurassic Park". A saying was emblazoned on the car: "If the dino stays behind bars, Bovenden does not have to tremble." This humorous element provided a lot of joy among the spectators.

The “Jurassic Park” team, led by Katharina Kleinhans, ended up as the winner from the competition for the best festival parade group.

In addition to the visual diversity, the festival also offered musical entertainment. Various music groups ensured a varied program. The musical acts included the Lindau fanfare train, the Steel Gray 64 Pep & Marching Band and the Brass and Drum Band Miningode. These groups contributed to the festive atmosphere and invited the spectators to celebrate.
