On Monday, January 6th, the Gifhorn police were informed at 3:45 p.m. about a perfume theft in a perfumery on Steinweg. A male perpetrator and a female companion left the store with a perfume bottle and fled in an unknown direction. The police immediately began investigating and viewed the perfumery's surveillance video.
As part of the search, the police met a woman at the Gifhorn Stadt train station who matched the description of the accomplice. She stated that she did not know the whereabouts of her male companion and also left his jacket behind. The officers then searched near the toilet blocks and found the 26-year-old man there.
Arrest and seizure of evidence
When the suspect was searched, officers found a small amount of narcotics and a prohibited switchblade. The 26-year-old had swapped the stolen perfume bottle for drugs. He was temporarily arrested and held in custody until late in the evening to prevent further crimes. A criminal case was initiated against him WAZ Online reported.
