A radiant highlight lites up the city center of Cloppenburg! The new light tent, which spans the city center with an impressive diameter of 40 meters, creates a festive atmosphere and inspires the citizens. A majestic 3D star, which sits 12 meters high on a central mast, attracts everyone's attention. Of this mast, 24 fairy lights shine with a total of 149 “icicles” lights into the area and transform the city into a winter fairy tale. The new winter lighting will shine from November to February from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and ensures a warm, inviting ambience.

The reactions from the population are overwhelmingly positive! Citizens, visitors and business people are enthusiastic about the new installation. In order to further enrich the festive atmosphere, six sample garlands were also installed in the confluence of the pedestrian zone and Mühlenstrasse. These garlands, decorated with artificial fir green and shining balls in red and gold, are part of a trial run. The city of Cloppenburg wants to find out how people like this expansion of lighting. A voting on the city's social media channels enables everyone interested to express their opinion and to vote for or against the garlands.

The city cost the city around 85,000 euros, with the energy costs for the entire season around around 140 euros. With only 467.5 kWh consumption over the four months, the lighting is also energy -efficient. The city hopes that the citizens will find the new winter lighting as an enrichment and that the garlands will continue to be installed in the pedestrian zone and possibly on other streets.
