New self-help group in Unterallgäu: Help for parents in crises!
A new light in the darkness! In Unterallgäu, parents are now offered help in mental crises surrounding the birth. The joy of having a newborn can turn into a nightmare for many, as up to 20 percent of mothers and fathers fall into a psychological crisis. Instead of experiencing the happiness they had hoped for as a mother, they struggle with sadness, inner emptiness and the feeling of failing as parents. These distressing emotions can lead to withdrawal and insomnia, while feelings of guilt and inner turmoil torment the soul.
But there is hope! Together with the “Shadow & Light” association, the Coordinating Child Protection Office at the Unterallgäu District Office (KoKi) is starting a self-help group that offers those affected the opportunity to exchange ideas and support each other. Here parents who are in crisis can make contacts and find their way out of the darkness together. The group meets every two weeks, and the first meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14th, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the St. Stephan Parish Hall in Mindelheim. Registration is not mandatory and participation is free!
