Medieval Market Hard: Thanks for support after hail damage!

On September 6th, 2025, the medieval market in Hard on Lake Constance opened its doors after an unexpected challenge. A hailstorm had damaged the event's tents the night before, but organizers were able to give the all-clear shortly before the opening. Final preparations were in full swing as the weather adjusted and the rain stopped.

The market, which took place over the weekend of September 5th to 7th, attracted numerous supporters from Germany and Switzerland. Instead of just providing one or two pavilions, a total of four new tents were organized at short notice, including two spacious large tents sponsored by a company. Organizer Egon Rusch was grateful for the support and lowered the entry price as a gesture of gratitude: adults now only pay six euros, instead of the originally planned eight euros.

Diverse program for visitors

The medieval market in the Stedepark in Hard, which took place from September 5th to 7th, attracted visitors with a diverse program. Over three days, visitors were able to experience camp life, witness historical crafts and enjoy an appealing stage program. Artists such as the duo Obscurm and the group Nerra Vera created a mystical ambience with their musical performances. Visitors could also look forward to the witchcraft-artistic demonstrations by Fahima and the exciting fire shows by Taranis and Zachin.

The opening times were extensive: on Friday the market started at 3 p.m. and ended at 10 p.m., while Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. offered new ways to experience the market. In addition, children up to 1.20 meters tall were admitted free, and well-dressed guests and people with disabilities were able to enter at reduced prices.

A step back in time

The Medieval Market in Hard is part of a variety of medieval spectacles that take place in Austria and take visitors back to the time of knights, damsels and jugglers. Craftsmen show off their craftsmanship everywhere and camp life is faithfully recreated. Such events are suitable not only for history lovers but also for families who want to enjoy interactive workshops and exciting stories from the past.

With the support of the community of Hard on Lake Constance, which has around 14,000 inhabitants, a big step towards tradition and culture was taken. The location on Lake Constance, close to Switzerland and Germany, makes the event even more attractive and ensures a high number of visitors. The organizers are positive about the future and look forward to next events that keep history alive.
