Knife attack at the city festival: 18-year-old fights for his life!

A shocking incident rocked the town festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd: an 18-year-old was critically injured in a knife attack. The emergency doctor who treated him in the ambulance described the scene as “like a slaughterhouse.” The incident occurred right next to the ambulance, which was on site as a precaution. If the young man had been standing just 200 meters away, he might be dead today.

Life-saving emergency aid

Thanks to the quick response of the emergency services, the 18-year-old was able to undergo surgery at the Staufer Clinic, where a severed femoral artery was treated. Another doctor confirmed that immediate initial treatment was crucial to the young man's survival. Nevertheless, the incident has serious consequences: the 18-year-old suffers from restricted mobility and has no hope of ever being able to walk normally again. His lower legs, toes and the top of his foot are paralyzed and he requires splints and ligaments to move. In total, he had to undergo operations eleven times and spent two months in the clinic, followed by rehabilitation.

Confrontation and remorse of the accused

The young man reported on the confrontation with the five defendants who wanted to provoke him and his companion on the way home. After an initial exchange of blows, a knife fell to the ground, which was a signal for the two to retreat. But the defendants caught up with them and one stabbed them. The main defendant claimed that he only wanted to free himself from a hold, which the 18-year-old vehemently denied. All defendants apologized to him, and the main defendant signaled his willingness to pay compensation.
