Gugelhupf hit from Kirchdorf: Claudia Drossert inspires with new recipes!
Church Village. In the world of sweet temptations, Claudia Drossert, the talented café owner from the island of Poel, has caused a sensation with her irresistible Bundt cakes! From strawberry coconut to rhubarb marzipan – her creations are so popular that they have been immortalized not only in her gallery café, but also in her own recipe book. The first edition of 400 copies is already completely sold out! Hardly a piece is left when the 43-year-old serves her freshly baked masterpieces.
Since opening her café in May 2020, Drossert has taken over 2,000 Bundt cakes out of the oven. “It’s a great cake and quick to make,” she enthuses. While many only know the classic variants such as lemon or cocoa, she surprises her guests with creative flavors such as blueberry yogurt and raspberry poppy seeds. “All are served with a little vanilla,” she adds. Your personal favorite variety? Lemon quark with red jelly – a treat that you shouldn’t miss!
The book contains recipes, photo paintings and poetry
In her book “Gugelhupf” Drossert shares twelve of her best recipes, complemented by her impressive photo paintings and poetic texts. “It’s not a classic baking book, but a reminder of the holidays,” explains the poet. Her artwork, which she captures while exploring the island, also finds a place in the café, where it is sold as postcards and mugs. With over 2,500 images in her archive, including the popular island church and lighthouse, Drossert brings the beauty of the island into the hearts of her guests.
The fifth season has been the most successful business year for Drossert, and she is already planning the second edition of her Gugelhupf book. Orders can be made in the gallery café and online – a copy costs 15 euros. Her passion for baking and art is also reflected in her new creation: crumble cake, which is particularly popular with men. “Sometimes the Bundt cake doesn’t turn out perfectly, but I take it with humor,” she says with a smile.
