Angular celebrations for 30 years of stage magic: musical premiere in Stralsund!

Theater Stralsund, 18439 Stralsund, Deutschland - Curtain for a special anniversary! The inclusive ensemble "The square", which acts under the roof of the Stralsund district diaconal work, celebrated its 30th anniversary on October 17, 2024. In the Stralsund Theater, the premiere of the musical "Go with us!" Listed, a piece that tells the story of four young people who break out of cramped conditions to find their own ways of life. This theatrical spectacle is characterized by the unique style of play of the square and is accompanied musically by the local musicians of the Tributary group and members of the Greifswald University Orchestra. The composition comes from Benjamin Saupe, while the text and direction of Gerd Franz Triebenecker were responsible.

The roots of "the angulars" go back to the beginning of the 1990s when the group began with a Singspiel called "The Arche Noah". The event that has now celebrated is not only a look back at the past three decades, but also a tribute to the transformative power of the theater. The first steps on the stage were taken with "The Bremen Town Musicians", and today the ensemble illuminates how theater can change and enrich life.

The celebrations are supported by the NDR cultural funding, which has set itself the task of promoting cultural projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. A total of around 810,000 euros are available for music funding, film festivals and documentary film productions in the region, which underlines the commitment of the NDR cultural funding.

In the context of the anniversary performance, it is remarkable how "the square" has been reducing barriers for thirty years and bringing diversity to the theater stages. This performance is not only proof of the development of talents that are often overlooked, but also an invitation to the audience to deal with the topics of inclusion and participation. With a performance that is both exciting and inspiring, the ensemble shows that art can and should be accessible to everyone.
