The city of Schwerin faces a financial challenge for the coming year! The budget for 2025 stipulates that the expenses for breathtaking 14 million euros will be higher than the income. The decisive position of "social security" stands out, with over 160 million euros that are planned for this. That is a whopping 18 million more than in the current year! Money flow into important social tasks such as support for child rearing and housing benefit - even though the city hopes for an increase in tax revenue!

The city expects the tax revenue to be increased from around 122 million euros this year to 135 million euros in the next. One reason for this increase is the planned tax increases, especially in property tax! However, with the planned personnel costs of around 83 million euros, it will not be an easy undertaking for the municipality.
