Stralsund starts fundraising campaign for the care of war graves: Get involved!
The time for giving has come! The impressive street collection of the German War Graves Commission will take place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from October 28th to November 24th. Yesterday, November 4th, the starting signal was given in Stralsund with a celebratory opening event on the Old Market. The meeting was an important event at which high-ranking personalities such as Thomas Reichenbach, chairman of the Vorpommern-Rügen district association, and the new managing director Thomas Hector together with Senator Heino Tanschus, district administrator Dr. Stefan Kerth and other representatives of the Parow Naval Technology School gave the starting signal for this important fundraising campaign.
Dedicated helpers on the way!
In the coming weeks, tireless citizens, students, soldiers and reservists will march through the streets of Stralsund to collect donations. These funds are crucial for the preservation of war graves from both world wars and support the historical and political educational work of the Volksbund. But that's not all! The Volksbund is also committed to European unification as an important peace project, which further reinforces the importance of this collection.
The house and street collection is an annual highlight that is always carried out two weeks before and two weeks after Remembrance Day, which this year takes place on November 17th. Those who cannot donate in person have the option to do so online. All details and information can be found on the Volksbund website at www.volksbund.de/spenden. Be part of this important initiative and support the preservation of memories!
