Collect chestnuts and feed animals: reward in the nature adventure park!
In the Natur experience park Mühlenhagen, the chestnuts and acorns are in the foreground again this year. Nadine Oswald and John Scholtes are happy about the hardworking collectors who are willing to give their donations for wild feeding. Anyone who brings their collected treasures during the café opening times can exchange them for a refreshing ice. Adults also receive a coffee as a small thank you.
However, the next challenge regarding feed supply is already at the door. There, a small herd of red deer, whose deer bulls and cows graze in a secured enclosure and have an attraction for numerous visitors during the summer months. But now some winter stocks have to be created. When the cold season breaks, the available feed in nature is often much more scarce, especially when snow covered the ground.
Food supply in the winter months
John Scholtes, who has been responsible for the animals for three years now, emphasizes: "In the winter months we have to provide the animals additional feed." The animals prefer acorns, chestnuts and hay foods that are important for their health and well -being. Last winter, thanks to the great support of nature lovers, chestnuts could already be made available via a ton of chestnuts.
A considerable amount of around 200 kilograms of chestnuts and acorns has currently been collected this autumn and accepted by the park. "The café season is still running until the end of October," continued Scholtes. Until then, visitors have the opportunity to continue to donate feed in the café and enjoy a small reward.
Additional delivery options for feed donors
After the end of the café season, there are alternative options to donate acorns, chestnuts or fall fruit. These can then be stored at the main entrance of the park. For a smooth handling, Scholtes encourages to register this by phone. Interested parties can reach the park on 0176 34531123 and confirm their levy in advance.
The initiative for feed donation shows how important the connection between nature lovers and the Natur adventure park Mühlenhagen is. It is to be hoped that even in the remaining autumn time, many animal lovers will actively help to bring the wild animals through the upcoming winter months.
