Jens Becker: From eternal ice to youth promotion in Western Pomerania

Jens Becker, a creative genius from Berlin, has made a name for itself in the world of film art! With up to 80 hours of working time per week, he juggles between exciting projects and the mediation of knowledge. The 61-year-old lives with his wife in Loitz and is not only on the road in Western Pomerania, but also internationally. He is currently devoting himself to a fascinating three -part documentary about three brave arctic researchers who lived a century ago

He was recently in Ittoqqortooriit, a remote village in East Greenland, where he filmed the breathtaking nature. "A beautiful piece of earth," enthuses Becker. In addition to his directorial activity, he is also active as a dramaturge and screenwriter and gives seminars at the renowned Film University Babelsberg. He is also involved in the SOS Family Center in Grimmen, where he works with young people on an exciting project called "Social Area-Kids".

In this project, the young people document their favorite places and the places they avoid, accompanied by personal audio recordings. The results are even presented to local politicians to initiate changes in their living environment. Becker is enthusiastic about the positive response: "We managed to initiate some changes so that the habitats of children and young people improve."

The film production on which he has been working for four years is expected to be broadcast on North German broadcasting next year. Becker has completed the shooting and is now in the decisive phase of the cut. "A month more time is the difference between a good and a very good film," he explains with passion.

In the coming spring, Becker is planning a crime seminar at the University of Potsdam, where students have the opportunity to submit their script designs. As a former professor of script at the film university, he has a lot to offer. His career is characterized by a tireless effort for film art and the conviction that every story is worth telling.
