Technology revolution in Bavaria!

Bavaria's leading fiber optic provider M-net has made a spectacular step in data transmission: the introduction of true 800 gigabits per second on a single light wavelength is now a reality! This was made possible by Nokia's cutting-edge technology, which represents a real upgrade to the M-net quantum network. M-net was the first German network operator to create this quantum leap in the network, which primarily benefits business customers who rely on strong connections.

With this impressive technology, data can now be transmitted at lightning speed over 570 kilometers from the Munich ring road to Ingolstadt, Nuremberg and Regensburg. The speed was even kept stable at 900 gigabits per second! The innovative design with nine segments and twelve ROADM modules ensures maximum efficiency and unparalleled bandwidth. This upgrade is not only a quantum leap in technology, but also a significant increase in the overall capacity of the Bayern-Ring and its connection to the DE-CIX internet exchange in Frankfurt.

Introducing 800 Gigabit connections

“We are proud to be setting this technological milestone together with Nokia,” says Maximilian Oertle, Technical Managing Director of M-net. This new technology comes at just the right time, because with the growing presence of artificial intelligence, ever larger amounts of data have to be processed in record time. M-net is thus clearly positioning itself as a pioneer in the area of high-speed Internet and promises to also serve the massively increasing demands of its customers.

Nokia, known for its excellence, is celebrating this achievement as a significant advance in optical networking. “This collaboration shows how strong partnerships can be in the industry,” said Michael Siegel, sales director for the German market at Nokia. With the new 800 Gigabit system, M-net is optimally prepared for the requirements of the future and can continue to serve its customers with unparalleled speed and efficiency.
