So Strabag was able to emerge as the cheaper company. In return, Kemna received a compensation payment. While Kemna cooperated with the authorities and the case was dropped, Strabag remains in the firing line.

Investigations against eight people

However, the public prosecutor's office is far from completing the investigation. A total of eight people are being investigated for anti-competitive agreements and fraud. Offices were searched as early as September 2021 and important evidence was seized. The evaluation of this data is still ongoing, and the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office emphasizes that the investigations are taking place independently of the decisions of the Federal Cartel Office. This means that the affected companies and their employees continue to be in a tight spot and have to fear for their future.
