Indian trainees take off: Ulm Chamber of Crafts secures skilled workers!
The search for skilled craftsmen is burning, and now eleven Indian trainees are ready to revolutionize crafts in Germany! These brave young men have already taken their first step into a promising future - they have arrived in Germany and are welcoming the adventure!
The Ulm Chamber of Crafts has launched a fascinating initiative that builds a bridge between India and Germany. The two pioneers of the pilot project, who landed just a few days ago, will set out on their new path as hard-working butchers and construction workers. “We urgently need skilled workers and trainees, which is why we have done everything we can to make this transition possible,” explains Dr. Tobias Mehlich, General Manager of the Ulm Chamber of Crafts, is enthusiastic about this international growth!
Strict selection process and intensive preparation
But the journey of these talents didn't just start with a flight. They spent months in India preparing them for the cultural challenges in Germany. An intensive language course and important intercultural training are intended to ensure that the trainees quickly feel at home here. The Chamber of Crafts reports that there is a huge need for young craftsmen - a total of 550 apprenticeship positions in the Ulm area are vacant! With the help of an agency that searches for potential talent in India, this unfortunate gap will soon be filled.
Aditi Banerjee, CEO of Magic Billion, is firmly convinced that this employment bridge represents an opportunity for young men to realize their dreams in Germany: “By passing the journeyman exam, they not only receive valuable experience, but also a permanent work permit.” Up to 80 more trainees are expected to follow next year. The craft future of Germany is already looking bright!
