Racist extremism in Hessian schools: Alarming incidents rise
Wiesbaden, Deutschland - In the schools of Hesse, there is a worrying increase in extremist incidents. Racism and right -wing extremism are no longer just marginal phenomena, but are increasingly noticeable in everyday school life. According to the Ministry of Culture in Wiesbaden, there were already 120 right -wing extremists motivated by October 15. There were only 36 cases for the entire previous year.
This development throws a light on a serious problem: increasing sensitivity to extremist tendencies within the schools. The ministry also attributes this increase to increased information measures. The schools have been reminded several times that they have to report to the school office immediately, especially anti -Semitic and right -wing extremist.
concrete incidents
The types of incidents are diverse. Reports show that students share right-wing extremists in group chats, leave right-wing extremists on school furniture and even sing racist songs. These incidents provide insights into the world of young people and how quickly they can be influenced by extremist ideas.
The increase in Islamist incidents is particularly alarming. By mid -October 2024, 28 such reports were recorded, a clear increase compared to previous years. Only 15 incidents were registered between 2018 and 2023. Much of the current cases is related to the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, which may indicate increasing radicalization in relation to current political events.
Details on Islamist incidents
six of the Islamist incidents concerned anonymous bomb threats against Hessian schools, which, however, turned out to be baseless in all cases. The other incidents include smearings that contain Islamist or pro-Palestinian messages. This development requires increased awareness and acting on the part of schools, the authorities and society.
The discussion about extremism in schools is becoming increasingly important and illustrates that preventive measures are essential to protect students from extremist ideologies. The current situation is a challenge that can only be managed together by education and sensitization. More information on this topic is in a recent report on www.fr.de to read.
