Apocalyptica inspires Wiesbaden: Metallica honey from Celli!
On October 7, 2024, the Wiesbaden slaughterhouse experienced a grand comeback from the Finnish band Apocalyptica. The musicians, who are known for their unique mix of classical music and metal, presented their “Plays Metallica Vol. 2” tour. The audience was electrified right from the start when the cellists initiated the evening with the famous piece "The Ecstasy of Gold". The atmosphere was thrilling and it seemed as if the audience were waiting for this moment.
During the performance, apocalyptica showed why her music has been not only metallica supporters, but also lovers of classical music since her debut in 1996. With passionate interpretation and impressive precision, they played classics such as "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets". The virtuoso cello sounds gave the pieces a very special intensity, while the powerful sound of Metallica always remained noticeable.
an emotional experience
During the concert, Bandleader Eicca Toppinen expressed his admiration for metallica's persistent relevance: "It is incredible how much this music still moves after all these years," he noticed when he looked at the euphoric quantity. This devotion was shown in every note they played, and every song became a tribute to Metallica. The performances of "Nothing Else Matters" and the final piece "One", which offered the audience a new, deep emotional dimension, were particularly touching. The energetic pieces such as "Enter Sandman" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" catapulted the mood in the hall into immeasurable and ensured exuberance. The connection between the classic sounds of the Celli and the rocky elements of Metallica created an overall picture that even captivated the toughest metal fans.
strong start with The Raven Age
The evening began with a powerful performance of the opening act The Raven Age, led by George Harris. Their alternative metal sound was accompanied by atmospheric guitar riffs and dynamic vocals and prepared the audience optimally for the main event of the evening.
Apocalyptica succeeds in showing again and again that her homage to Metallica has lost none of her fascination even after almost three decades. Her ability to seamlessly interweave classic elements with the rock genre remains remarkable and makes every appearance a unique experience-an impressive testimony of your musical journey.
