Vogelsberger Bergmähwiesen: 3rd place in natural wonder choice 2024!
In the Vogelsberg district, the natural wonder election 2024 chose a new favorite. Despite strong competition, the region took third place with its impressive mountain mowing meadows. Until October 3, nature lovers had the opportunity to give their voice for one of the nine nine natural candidates. The election was organized by the Heinz-Sielmann Foundation and the German Hiking Association, which underlines the importance of the Bergmähwiesen for nature conservation.
Petra Schwing-Döring, Managing Director of the Vogelsberg Tourismus GmbH volcanic region, is enthusiastic about the positive result. "A big thank you to everyone who voted for us and supported us," she said gratefully. This high participation shows how much people appreciate the unique nature of the Vogelsberg.
podium and congratulations
The Langwarder Groden landed in first place on the North Sea Peninsula Butjadingen, followed by Rochlitzer Berg in Saxony in second place. "Standing with these impressive natural wonders on the winning staircase is a special award and we are very proud of that," added Schwing-Döring. This honor not only emphasizes the natural beauties of the region, but also promotes awareness of nature conservation, which is more important than ever today.
The natural wonder choice 2024 shows what diversity and beauty the German landscape has to offer. The mountain mowing meadows in Vogelsberg, which have now come into the public eye, are considered an important habitat for numerous animal and plant species and therefore contribute significantly to the biological diversity in the region. The positive response from the population could also contribute to the fact that future projects will be tackled and maintained this unique landscape.
