Winter onset in Hesse: First snow and smooth roads awaited!
Offenbach, Deutschland - Winter knocks on the door in Hesse! The temperatures will fall significantly in the coming week and the first snowflakes are just around the corner. Drivers and pedestrians should be prepared on smooth roads, because the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of winter conditions. The coming days will not only bring cold, but also precipitation, which could fall in higher locations than snow.
On Sunday, November 17th, the weather in Hessen is already uncomfortable. The temperatures commute between 5 and 8 degrees, while in the mountains it only gets around 3 degrees. The night of Monday brings icy temperatures of 3 to 0 degrees, and in the higher regions it could even get up to minus 1 degree cold. The streets could be dangerously smooth because rain and snow are expected. According to meteorologist Tim Staeger, there could also be wet flakes in the lowlands that could form a small layer of snow.
snow in Offenbach and Hanau?
The second half of the week promises a striking temperature fall, with values below freezing. Especially in the Taunus and the Rhön, the snow could fall vigorously. While the exact effects on Offenbach and Hanau are still unclear, the region is preparing for winter conditions. The DWD already warns of smooth roads and recommends special care for drivers and cyclists. Fog could also restrict the view and bring additional dangers.
The Hessen must therefore adapt to changeable weather that not only brings cold but also potentially dangerous road conditions. Winter is on the way and the first signs are already noticeable!
