Ulmbacher outdoor pool: renovation creates a spirit of optimism in the village!

In the small community of Ulmbach, which has been on the track with her outdoor pool in recent years, there is finally hope of reviving the popular leisure facility. A team of committed citizens is tirelessly committed to the renovation of the swimming pool and has now received approval for the installation of a new stainless steel pool. The city councils have taken the necessary decision so that the long -awaited plans for renovation can finally be put into practice.

Liane Heid, Sebastian Stein from the swimming pool fans and mayor Alexander Happ and Mayor Christian Zimmermann met on site to discuss the details. Together they discussed the necessary measures to bring the swimming pool back into life. "The renovation of the bath is of central importance for the community here in Ulmbach," emphasizes Mayor Zimmermann.

cohesion of the community

The Ulmbach citizens are involved in the initiative in a remarkable way. For two decades, they have been trying not to be forgotten the swimming pool. First, they organized themselves under the name "Swimming Paden Freundy", and since 2023 they have been active as a support association Freibad Ulmbach e.V. A current fundraising campaign that was launched in June has already recorded 40,000 euros in donations. "The interest is huge. Many donors are not even from Ulmbach, but want to look back on memories from their childhood," says Sebastian Stein happy about the broad support.

However, the outdoor pool has not been in a visitor condition in recent years. The square was overgrown by weeds and moss had settled on the walls. In order to counteract this, helpers have already made preparations for the upcoming renovation phase. "There is a lot of work and the trades are ready to start soon," Mayor Zimmermann quoted.

The redesign of the outdoor pool comprises a stainless steel pool that requires less maintenance in the long run. The total costs for the new pool amount to around 830,000 euros. "We chose the stainless steel option because it is durable and we don't have to take care of repairs all the time," explains the district administrator, who visited the site. He also points out that the existing technology for heating and filtering the water has recently been modernized, which has significantly reduced the operating costs.

plans for a colorful future

The plans for the outdoor pool go beyond the construction of a new pool. The support association already has ideas on how the swimming pool can be made more attractive for different age groups. "Cinema evenings, cocktail evenings and working with the nearby school should round off the offer," explains Liane Heid. In addition, many young people are willing to be trained as a lifeguard to actively participate in the swimming pool.

The maintenance work is currently facing the students and future visitors. The community will also take care of the renovation of the changing rooms and sanitary facilities as part of work assignments. This will be a big challenge, but the Ulmbacher are determined to open the outdoor pool for the upcoming bathing season.

The outdoor pool Ulmbach will also be barrier-free in the future in order to give everyone access. Interested parties who would like to support the fundraising campaign can find more information on own donation platform

The return of the outdoor pool as a social meeting place is now in close proximity, and it turns out to be the importance of local initiatives to promote cultural and social values. The anticipation for the reopening is great - for everyone who lives here and for those who combine beautiful memories with this place.
