New bridge for Hanau!The closed Auheim Bridge will be accessible to pedestrians and cyclists again from summer 2025 thanks to an innovative interim solution. City councilor Isabelle Hemsley announced that a footbridge would be built as a “bridge within a bridge” to once again revive the connection between Großauheim and Klein-Auheim. After the bridge was closed due to serious damage, passers-by have had to take a detour since 2022. But the new solution promises relief – without an immediate complete renovation. Safety reports have given the green light and the temporary alternative promises safety and mobility for citizens.
Strong reactions to comedy performance!The controversial comedian Luke Mockridge is coming to Hanau, but the city is finally taking a stand on his questionable statements about athletes with disabilities. Mayor Claus Kaminsky made it clear: “Unwanted!” The performance will not be canceled to avoid tax money, instead the proceeds will flow directly to the Special Olympics State Games in 2025. The city is taking a clear position and sending a message against discrimination - a change of subject is causing excitement in Hanau and beyond!
Hanau station is being upgraded!
Big changes are also coming to Hanau Central Station! The new timetable from December 15th hardly brings any improvements, but a night ICE between Berlin and Zurich will be introduced. Deutsche Bahn recognizes Hanau's importance as a transport hub, but the city wants more! City councilor Isabelle Hemsley demands: “Deutsche Bahn has to move even more!” Construction work will expand the station and make it more attractive for commuters. But that's not all - the city of Hanau is planning a comprehensive redesign of the entire area around the main train station to create a modern gateway to the city.
There is also an important poster campaign for victims of sexual violence on Hanau buses. This initiative aims to make emergency medical help easily accessible and points out the options for help without the need to immediately file a report.
