RSV Lahn-Dill: With a fresh team in the new wheelchair basketball season!

(AJ). There is exciting news in the German wheelchair basketball scene: the RSV Lahn-Dill, record champions and defending champion, will start the new season 2024/2025 next Saturday. With a rejuvenated squad and new faces in the coaching team, the team goes into the new season. Led by head coach Janet Zeltinger, the team will play their home premiere game against the heavily estimated Hanoverians on October 12th.

Preparation for the season was anything but ideal, as the Paralympics in Paris, which lasted until September, did not give little time for the training sessions. Despite this challenge, the team impressively cut off at the competitions: newcomers Julian Lammering as well as Matthias Güntner and Thomas Böhme secured bronze with the German men's selection, while Rose Hollermann won silver with the team of the USA.

rejuvenation and new additions

The newcomers bring fresh wind into the team. Julian Lammering, a 20-year talent, strengthens the squad and comes from the BBC Münsterland. He is considered one of the most hopeful young people in German wheelchair basketball. The 18-year-old Finlay Erskine, who comes from the Lothian Phoenix and is considered a junior international. Brazilian Maxcileeide de Deus Ramos, who has already won numerous international titles, and 28-year-old Marek Wesolowski from Poland complete the new quartet to further strengthen the team.

This fresh line-up could be of crucial importance in the competition, especially when you consider that Lahn-Dill not only wants to keep its place as defending champion, but also want to triumph again. The sporting ambitions are high, but the integration of new players is a challenge. Many teams in this league are well recorded and have many years of experience.

coaching team reorganized

Not only the players are new - there are also changes in the coaching team. The long-time assistant coach Günther Mayer and video analyst Björn Lohmann left their posts for personal reasons, which the team forced to find new highly qualified trainers. The new assistant coach Marcus Krapp has a lot of experience from previous positions and is intended to support the team in getting back to the top in the Bundesliga. In addition, Ralf Neumann, who already celebrated great success with the RSV Lahn-Dill between 2012 and 2018, returns as an individual coach.

The upcoming challenges in the DRS Cup and the Champions League show that the RSV Lahn-Dill can not only concentrate on the Bundesliga, but also want to continue to play a combative role internationally. With seven successes in the IWBF Champions Cup you are a record winner and strive for another successful season.

The first games of the new season will give fans and experts a first impression of how well the team harmonizes. The expectations are high, but with the changes in the squad and the new coaching team, the Wetzlarers have to prepare for an intensive season. A successful start of the season will be crucial to realize the goal of defending the title.

How the dynamics will develop under the new conditions remains exciting. The competition is strong, in particular the RSB Thuringia Bulls are considered serious challengers. After the departures and commitments in the other teams, it becomes clear that the Bundesliga will be particularly balanced and highly competitive this season.
