Starbulls Rosenheim celebrate third home win: sensation against Huskies!
The Starbulls Rosenheim have once again proven that anything is possible in their own stadium. On October 14, 2024, the Green-Whites won the DEL2 home game against the Kassel Huskies 3-2 and celebrated their third home win in a row. This game came as a surprise to many as the Huskies were considered the stronger team and promptly took the lead in the first half.
The start of the game was promising for the guests from Kassel. Just 30 seconds after the faceoff, Huskies player Hunter Garlent made it 1-0. Despite a majority situation and a goal shooting ratio of 10:6 in the first third, the Starbulls were unable to turn things around. The best chance for Rosenheim fell to Charlie Sarault, whose shot was blocked by Kassel goalkeeper Brandon Maxwell.
Kassel points out a power game
In the second third, the Starbulls were exposed to massive attacks from the Huskies, but were able to fend off the first attacks thanks to goalkeeper Oskar Autio. But the Rosenheimers didn't give up and finally equalized through C.J. Stretch. The joy was short-lived because a goal from Ville Järveläinen was disallowed due to handball after video evidence. The Huskies were then able to exploit their advantage and Yannik Valenti increased the score to 2:1.
The statistics from the game show that the Starbulls continue to have problems with the majority. Despite seven power-play situations, they only managed to capitalize once, while the Huskies scored a goal from just two power-play situations.
Coach comments on the game
When asked about the game, Jari Pasanen, coach of the Starbulls, announced: "We brought traffic in front of the opponent's goal and then the goals came. We played really well in the final third. We defended well, moved the disc quickly, the boys did really well. The only worry is certainly the power play, as we couldn't generate enough pressure."
Kassel coach Todd Woodcroft also commented after the game, saying: "We beat ourselves. If we draw seven penalties it will be difficult to win games. Rosenheim was organized and played well for over 60 minutes, while we were only ready for 40 minutes."
In summary, it can be said that the win against the Kassel Huskies serves as support for the Starbulls for future games. The next test is approaching and the Rosenheimers have to work on their power play in order to be more successful in future games.
