Fuldatal is investing 1.6 million euros in a new bike path to Espenau!

Fuldatal, Deutschland - Fuldatal makes nails with heads: a new bike path between Rothwesten and Espenau is to be created for a whopping 1.6 million euros! The municipal representatives unanimously chose the most expensive, but the most effective variant in the long term to upgrade the region. Not only asphalt is applied here, but a connection is created that attracts cyclists to nature and promotes mobility!

As early as 2009, the idea of a cycle path between these two places was under discussion, but only now it becomes a reality. In a meeting, Mayor Karsten Schreiber (CDU) presented the various variants that were developed by an engineering office. The cheapest option, variant 2, would cost 993,000 euros and comprises 1.3 kilometers of bike path. But the community has chosen the most complex solution that upgrades the hell path and provides for a comprehensive renovation of the existing bike paths.

four variants, a decision

The decision fell on variant 4, which costs 1.6 million euros and is 2.4 kilometers long. This variant not only connects Fuldatal and Espenau, but also includes the "Rothwestener triangle", which links the municipalities of Espenau, Fuldatal and the city of Immenhausen. Most cycle paths are repaired in the long term and the renewal of the trenches and throughlets is significantly improved. "We beat two birds with one flap," explains Schreiber, since the renovation of the dirt roads is urgently necessary and the municipality even receives funding of 1.1 million euros.

The construction should begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 and be completed by the end of June 2026. Citizens can therefore look forward to a significantly more attractive cycle path infrastructure that not only increases security, but also makes cycling in this picturesque area a pleasure!
