Traffic attempt failed: public prosecutor stops investigation!

A huge outcry from the city of Gießen: The failed traffic attempt on the Anlagenring does not result in any criminal consequences for Mayor Alexander Wright and Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher! The public prosecutor's disclosure committee closed the investigation on October 22, 2024. A real drama that has heated up emotions since the summer of 2023 now has no criminal repercussions!

After intensive and complex investigations, which included various witness interviews and the seizure of numerous documents in the town hall, the public prosecutor's office came to the shocking conclusion: "There is no sufficient suspicion of a crime." The accusation of intentional breach of trust, i.e. the alleged deliberate damage to the city's finances, could not be proven beyond doubt. However, the massive criticism that was raised due to the overturned traffic planning remains! The switch to yellow road markings and temporary traffic lights is still considered questionable.

Political reappraisal continues!

After the inner-city traffic changes in the summer of 2023 were repeatedly classified as illegal, the public is now looking forward to the further political debate. Initially the focus of the investigation: Mayor Alexander Wright. Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher's responsibility later came into question, but the public prosecutor's office waved his hand. The costs of this traffic scandal, around 1.7 million euros, have also been criticized. After all, the opposition in the city parliament has already denounced the payments and provided clarification - the whole thing could be expensive for the city!

While the two local politicians are currently not issuing any statements, one thing remains to be said: the supposed end of this transport policy disaster could only be the beginning of a more in-depth political process. Tempers are heated, interest is high - and the question of the consequences continues to waft through the streets of Giessen!
