Committed citizens wanted: Make Hesse safer in the voluntary police service!

The voluntary police service is flourishing in Hesse! Over 350 committed citizens in more than 100 cities are committed to keeping their communities safe. These volunteers are not only an important part of the security architecture, but also a symbol of the sense of community. After all, safety is the key to a high quality of life!

The members of the Voluntary Police Service actively support the police by increasing prevention and on-site presence. Under the motto “Show presence, observe and report”, they act as competent contacts for security issues. Your tasks are varied: You show presence in the team, observe and report security-relevant perceptions and hold preventive discussions with citizens. A real benefit for every community!

Who can take part?

Anyone interested in joining the team must meet a few requirements: They should be between 18 and 65 years old, physically fit and able to carry out the tasks. A school leaving certificate or completed vocational training as well as good knowledge of German are also required. In addition, applicants must support the free, democratic basic order and must not have been sentenced to imprisonment or a fine of more than 90 daily rates.

The training includes 50 hours in which legal basics, social and intercultural skills as well as practical training are taught. A first aid course is also offered. The helpers receive compensation of seven euros per hour for their voluntary work. The assignments take place flexibly during non-working hours.
