Common security center: 150,000 euros for seven counties!
A huge step in the world of information security was taken in Lauterbach! In a solemn act, the Hessian Minister of Local Minister Roman Poseck presented a stately notice of grant over 150,000 euros to the district administrator of the Vogelsberg district, Dr. Jens Mischak. This support is not just a blessing of money, but a significant commitment to promote inter -municipal cooperation (IKZ). The funds flow into the newly founded joint information security center, a project that combines the districts of Bergstraße, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Kassel, Schwalm-Eder, Darmstadt-Dieburg and Vogelsbergkreis to raise their digital security to a new level.
But what does that mean specifically? The information security office, which was established in 2023, is directed by an external representative who acts in close cooperation with the information security coordinators of the seven districts involved. The aim is to create synergies and to control the security processes efficiently. The project initially runs for five years and promises enormous savings potential- each district can save around 21,000 euros in personnel and material costs! What a financial advantage in times of tense households!

Minister Poseck is enthusiastic about this community initiative and emphasizes the urgency with which the counties have to join together in order to meet the challenges of digitization. "Safe digital processes are not an option, but a prerequisite for the full exploitation of the digital potential," says Poseck, who looks expectantly into the future: "I hope that many other municipalities will follow up and consider this inter -municipal cooperation."
The project, which originally created from talks between the Vogelsberg district and the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, has developed rapidly. Soon after the first project presentation at the Hessian cyber security summit 2023, more and more counties were interested in participation. With seven counties that are now active in this pilot program, a safe foundation for the progressive digitization of the administration is laid. "Thanks to the financial tailwind from Wiesbaden, we now have the opportunity to break new ground in information security," says Mischak.
