Braun: From politics to science

Helge Braun has an impressive career: after studying medicine in Giessen and working as a doctor, he moved to the Bundestag in 2002. He is currently chairman of the Budget Committee and was head of the Chancellery under Angela Merkel from 2013 to 2018. "Politics thrives on change. Now is the time for it," said Braun, showing his determination to bring a breath of fresh air into the university.

After his election, Braun expressed his ambitions for the University of Lübeck: "In recent years, the university has achieved considerable success in research, teaching and transfer with limited resources.
