actions in the Middle East

The situation in the Middle East, which proves to be tense, is also discussed. The EU calls on Israel to grant humanitarian aid to Gaza, where over 2 million people suffer from acute lack of food. In addition, the EU urges an end to the fight in Gaza and a ceasefire. Foreign Minister Baerbock announced additional humanitarian support for Syria in the amount of 300 million euros. The Federal Foreign Office emphasizes that the EU is also committed to reconstruction in Gaza and Syria.

Another point on the agenda is the HASC-off discussion on the transatlantic relationships, especially in the context of customs policy of US President Donald Trump. The strengthening of one's own interests and closer cooperation with the USA is considered strengthened. During this meeting, no resolutions for new sanctions against Israeli settlers or a suspension of sanctions against Syria are expected.

focus on the Western Balkans

In addition, a focus is on Bosnia and Serbia at the Western Balkans. In view of the European challenges in these regions, stability and future cooperation will be discussed centrally. Informed the Federal Foreign Office, that the EU external council will also pay attention to the new developments in Georgia, where irregularities were found in the last parliamentary elections.

The humanitarian crisis in Sudan is also taken into account. Germany calls for a weapon embargo and new sanctions against the military in Sudan to improve the humanitarian situation. The consultations in Brussels are therefore of great importance both strategically and humanitarian.
