Semi-final results and betting patterns

The current ESC format includes three parts: a first semi-final, a second semi-final and the final. The first semi-final took place on May 13, 2025, with ten countries qualifying for the final. These countries are Sweden, Norway, Albania, Iceland, the Netherlands, Poland, San Marino, Estonia, Portugal and Ukraine. The second semi-final followed on May 15, 2025 and will also be crucial for the final participants.

In addition to the ten qualified nations, the “Big Five” (Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain, Italy) and last year’s winner, Switzerland, will also take part in the final. Historically, the Big Five and the hosts have often had difficulty winning the ESC, which makes the current betting situation particularly attractive.

The ESC in context

Organized annually by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest is not only a music competition, but also a cultural event that attracts over 180 million viewers annually. The first edition took place in Lugano, Switzerland, and since then the competition has undergone numerous changes, particularly in relation to the awarding of points and the conditions of participation.

In the last five editions, the bookmakers have been able to predict the correct winner four times, which increases the explosiveness and the betting stakes for fans. The participating countries, most of them EBU members, are not limited to Europe but also include some Mediterranean countries. Another notable feature of the ESC is its high popularity among the LGBT community and the multitude of international hits that emerged from the competition, such as “Waterloo” by ABBA and “Euphoria” by Loreen.

The betting options are diverse, even if ESC betting is banned in Germany. In Austria, on the other hand, there are numerous options, from win bets to place bets to special bets on jury and televoting results.
