In the Margon Arena inDresdenThe Dresden Titans lost 67:71 in an exciting game against the Tigers Tübingen on Sunday. The game marks the fourth defeat in a row for the Titans, who remain stuck in the bottom of the Pro A table. In front of 1,582 spectators, the tension was palpable until the end, but the guests from Tübingen, led by their top scorer Kenneth Cooper, showed strong nerves in the crucial moments and snatched victory.
The Dresden team, under the leadership of coach Fabian Strauß, had to struggle with a very inconsistent performance. The starting five consisted of Daniel Kirchner, Koen Sapwell, Wesley Dreamer, Lucien Schmikale and Lukas Zerner. Although the Titans were ahead at times, they couldn't prevent Tübingen from gaining the upper hand with the score at crucial moments. The course of the game was characterized by frequent leadership changes and a tight scoring situation.
Strong fight, but lack of consistency
Despite a strong start, with the Titans leading 8:4, the Tübingen team quickly turned up the heat and soon took over the reins. The first half ended in a draw, with Dresden particularly shining in the first half with free throws and three-point throws. But the guests impressed with their superior rebound work, which ultimately gave Dresden problems. The first half ended 33:33.
In the third quarter, however, the Dresden Titans suffered a setback. Easy points were awarded and Tübingen quickly pulled away with 46:35. A key moment was a three-pointer from Schmikale that got the Titans back on track and left a narrow deficit of 51-53 at the final break.
Critical foul play at the crucial moment
The encounter remained exciting in the final quarter. The Titans managed to take the lead 59:58 thanks to a three-pointer from Matthew Ragsdale. But soon afterwards the fouls took over. Zerner and Bertone had to leave the field, which made the situation even more difficult for Dresden. Despite the adverse conditions, the Titans equalized several times, but had difficulty gaining a decisive lead.
Finally, the Tigers pulled away in the final minutes and secured the victory with a final score of 71:67 after Cooper converted two free throws in the decisive moments that put Tübingen on the winning path. The best performance for Dresden came from Koen Sapwell with 17 points, followed by Kirchner with 11 points and Ragsdale with 10.
