Chaos in Gießen: Vehicle registration office is struggling with software problems!

Chaos in Gießen! Drivers who want to register or re-register their vehicle have to be prepared for a test of patience. The vehicle registration office is currently a place of standstill, where waiting times of up to three weeks have become a bitter reality. The reason? A mandatory software change that not only strains the authorities, but also the nerves of the citizens.

The software change, which is being carried out by the service provider Ekom21, has paralyzed the processes in the registration office. Traffic department head Christian Zuckermann described the situation as an “absolutely exceptional situation” and regrets the inconvenience for customers. Although the transition is officially complete, technical problems remain and cause frustration. Citizens are not the only ones suffering; The admissions office employees are also overloaded and even had to work on Saturday to catch up on the backlog.

Criticism and patience are required

Complaints are increasing and drivers' anger is understandable. If you try to book an appointment online, the earliest option is November 22nd – three weeks from now! In addition, online registration, a practical alternative, was also affected by the technical glitches. The approval office's hotline was unable to help the unsettled customers because they could only forward the errors to the software provider.

The numbers speak for themselves: In October, 10,643 transactions were processed in the admissions office, including 638 new registrations and 2,642 deregistrations. The district understands the angry customers, but hopes that online registration will work smoothly again soon. There could soon even be new license plates for drivers - a small ray of hope in the midst of the registration chaos!
