Protest at Uni Ghent: Students demand the end of the collaboration with Israel!

In a powerful meeting, around a hundred propalestinian activists, mostly students, demonstrated in front of the University of Ghent on Tuesday afternoon. Your message was clear: you are calling for an end to the university with Israeli companies and educational institutions!

The protesters are not active for the first time. In June they organized a 40-day blockade of a university building that only ended them after Rector Rik van de Walle promised them to suspend the cooperation with Israeli partners. But the continuation of this collaboration has heated the minds again and brought the activists onto the street.

The demonstration was an urgent appeal to the university management to position itself clearly and actually implement the promised measures. The activists are determined to raise their voice for the Palestinian cause and put the university under pressure in order to enforce their demands.
