Captain under the influence of alcohol: Dalben rams in Bremen!

in Bremen, an incident caused excitement in the industrial ports. A seagoing ship that wanted to leave the port towards the North Ostsee Canal at around 12 p.m. on the way through the Hüttenhafen with a Dalben, a kind of permanently installed booters to secure boats, collided on the way. The impact was so violent that the ship was damaged over 30 meters in length.

The collision led to significant damage to load -bearing components of the ship, known as frames, and to a partially torn outer skin. These serious damage resulted in an immediate ban on leak for the ship, and the Bremen water protection police was consulted to carry out investigations.

In the investigation, the police found that the 53-year-old captain of the ship was under considerable alcohol influence. A breath alcohol test resulted in a value of more than 2 per thousand, which shows extreme alcoholization. In order to secure further evidence, the captain was taken from a blood sample. This measure is common to clarify the exact circumstances of an alcohol -related incident.

Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident, and the environment was not endangered either. However, the authorities appreciate the property damage to over 120,000 euros. This is a significant amount that affects the financial aspects and possible consequential damage in shipping.

The water protection police have set a security deposit of 18,000 euros for the captain. It is still unclear whether the ship in Bremen has to be repaired and when the onward journey could be possible again. Studies by insurers and experts are underway to determine the exact condition of the ship.

The police point out that a strict alcohol limit applies to the sea and inland navigation streets in Germany. The "0.5-Promille limits" means that values about it are considered an administrative offense. A blood alcohol value of 0.3 per thousand can already result in legal consequences if driving errors or symptoms are observed. From a value of 1.1 per thousand it is a criminal act, regardless of further abnormalities.

This situation again speaks for the importance of responsible behavior on the water. The incident will continue to be examined closely, and it remains to be seen which legal steps will follow.
