Köpenick in the construction site chaos: XXL construction site brings hustle and bustle!

In the idyllic old town of Köpenick, a popular retreat for Berliners, a massive construction site is announcing that could significantly disturb the quiet life in the area. According to official information, BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe) will soon start renewing around two kilometers of tram tracks. This affects not only the tracks themselves, but also the redesign of three stops, which will be accessible in the future. During the work, the tram traffic will come to a standstill, which means a significant change for numerous commuters and residents.

The BVG, however, has taken precautions to minimize the effects on passengers. Instead of the trams, buses are to be used that will drive across the streets of Alter Markt, Lüdersstraße and freedom. This is a proactive measure to ensure that the mobility of the citizens is also guaranteed during the construction work. Interestingly, the cobblestones around the stops are temporarily covered with an asphalt layer to facilitate transportation.

construction work and comprehensive modernization

But that's not all. The Berlin water operations have decided to use the actual construction site to replace an almost 100-year-old drinking water pipe in the Alt-Köpenick area. This corrects a bottleneck in the water supply, which in the long run should improve the infrastructure of the district. According to the "Berliner Morgenpost", the project comprises a length of 215 meters that crosses the streets of Alt-Köpenick, Kirchstraße, Schüßlerplatz and Kietzer Straße to Müggelheimer Strasse.

The need for this extensive work is explained by the water companies as follows: "Over the years, the water and wastewater pipes are getting on in years and require comprehensive renewal. The modernization of these vital supply networks ensures reliable care for households and companies in the old town."

joint efforts for a better infrastructure

The BVG has also confirmed that a large part of the tracks and soft is in poor condition. "Constant traffic, weather influences and the high traffic volume lead to material fatigue. Worn -down rails and switches can not only affect the ride of the lanes, but also represent a security risk," said a spokesman for BVG.

The announced project is not only a necessary infrastructure measure, but could also be an opportunity to improve the state of public services and increase the quality of life in the region. It is a welcome opportunity to implement long-term changes in traffic and water supply.

In order to inform the residents about the progress of the work and all the upcoming details, Berlin traffic and water companies invite you to an information event. This will take place on October 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Audimax of the Merian Higher School in Hoernlestraße 80. All open questions should be clarified on this evening, and the citizens are given the opportunity to actively contribute to the process.

The process and the exact times of the construction work have not yet been determined. It remains to be seen how the construction phase will be concrete and how the residents will experience the coming months.
