Court forces Dachau to change: Tempo 20 in the old town remains controversial!
A bitter legal dispute over speed limits unfolds in Dachau, and the Munich administrative court has now decided: The city must improve in its speed control in the old town! Since the beginning of the year, a new regulation has been in place: Tempo 20 instead of 30, decided by the city council to offer more safety and pedestrians. But jeweler Ludwig Stöckl, who has been rooted in the old town for generations, vehemently opposed this measure and was now partially right.
The judge Dietmar Wolff summed it up: the traffic -calmed area is far too big! In the future, the Tempo 20 zone may only apply to the main roads, Konrad-Adenauer- und Augsburger Straße. In contrast, in the side streets - including Gottesackerstrasse, Jocherstraße and Färbergasse - the old speed limit of 30 returns. Wolff emphasized that this is mainly about residential streets, fewer pedestrians are on the move and the quality of stay is not the focus. If the city does not act soon and adjust the regulation, sensitive punishments threaten or even the complete cancellation of the 20 zone in the old town!
"A 20 zone on the mountain is incomprehensible!"
Stöckl's argument has weight! In a passionate defense, he explained that it was absurd to introduce such a speed arrangement on a mountain: "Either drivers do not stick to it or they drive with a lower gear. This creates more environmental impact!" In his opinion, the city sends out a "harmful sign" with this decision: "It is incomprehensible why you want to replace 30 speed 30." And that is not Stöckl's first confrontation with the city; Two years ago, he had already successfully sued a one -way regulation. The transport committee will deal with this hotly debated regulation on November 12th.
