Prignitz starts organic bin: from April waste separation made easy!
From April 1, 2024, the citizens in the Prignitz district can look forward to a new possibility of waste separation: the introduction of biotons in all households. The acquisition of the bio bin is not mandatory, but the decision for this environmentally friendly option is considered sensible. The measure aims to dispose of fewer organic waste in residual waste and thus promote more sustainable waste management.
The bio bin is offered in two different sizes: 120 and 240 liters. Moderate costs are available for households. The basic fee, which is also referred to as the advanced fee, is relatively cheap with monthly amounts of 60 cents for the smaller and 1.20 euros for the larger bin. Furthermore, the residence fee for 2025 is eliminated if you will choose the bio bin next year.
price-performance ratio of the biotone
add the emptying fees of 2.50 euros or 5 euros at these costs, there is an attractive overall offer. For comparison: The pricing for the residual waste bin is 4.57 euros for the smaller and 9.14 euros for the larger ton as a monthly retention fee, plus empty -free costs of 5.48 euros or 10.96 euros.
The bio bin is expected to be emptied every two weeks. In areas with low demand, the removal intervals can be designed after registration. Another advantage for biotone users: The frequency of the minimum emptying for the residual waste bin is reduced. In households with one person, there are only four necessary empties a year, while there were six. Even in larger households, the minimum number of empties of eight to six is reduced.
A comprehensive information campaign has already taken place. All households in the district were informed about the introduction of the bio bin, and there were also special events for large rental companies such as housing associations. The district administration has also actively raised awareness of the new biotonne at weekly markets, under the motto "The Prignitz separates. You too?"
valuable organic waste
The scheduled delivery of the new tons to households will take place in March 2024. From April, kitchen, garden and green waste can then be thrown into the brown tons. According to current reports, around 50 percent of these valuable organic waste is currently entering the residual waste bin. In order to better use the energetic potential of these organic waste, the district council decided to introduce the biotonne. This measure is in accordance with the bio -waste strategy of the State of Brandenburg and the requirements of the circular economy law.
With the establishment of the bioton, the district pursues the goal of optimizing waste separation and reducing environmental pollution. The measure could not only reduce the disposal costs for households, but also represent an important step towards a more sustainable waste management in the region.
