Progress in A14 construction: Elbe bridge is taking shape!
Wittenberge.Construction work on the A14 Elbe bridge and the road is gaining momentum! The press spokesman for the German Unity Highway Planning and Construction Society (Deges), Lutz Günther, confirms the impressive progress on the Elbe dike in Saxony-Anhalt. The sheet pile wall, which serves as a foundation for further archaeological investigations, has already been successfully installed. And that's not all!
At the same time, work on the A14 Elbe bridge continues. The last section of the eastern foreland bridge, the part in front of the river, has now been concreted! The bridge is scheduled to open its doors in spring 2026. On the Saxony-Anhalt side, work has now begun on installing sheet piling to secure the dike and ensure further progress.
On to the next stage!
After the successful interim move on the river bridge over the Elbe, the construction workers have now started converting the moving scaffolding. This is needed to realize the western superstructure of the future A14 Elbe bridge. Numerous steel components are currently being delivered and assembled and welded in a specially designed cycle cellar. The new bridge is being built using an innovative incremental sliding process that produces the individual sections of the superstructure separately. A true masterpiece of engineering!
