Brandenburg-Cup: runner drama and record participation in Potsdam!

Potsdam. The Brandenburg-Cup The runner caused excitement! In the last stages, including the challenging Prignitzer bog parts, there was an unexpected incident: a group of runners gone and thus covered a longer route. Thomas Lenk, Vice President of the Brandenburg Athletics Association (LVB), said: "Approval was filed against the evaluation. However, after an investigation, we decided to evaluate the finish in spite of the longer route. The briefing was correct." A sporting judgment that could not reduce the tension of the final!

Despite this drop of bitterness, this year's Brandenburg Cup was a complete success! With 2650 participants, the event has achieved the second largest participation in history and is approaching the record year 2019. "The runners we have lost through Corona are returning," said Lenk optimistically. The numbers speak for themselves: Compared to previous years, the number of participants has increased steadily, and the return of the runners shows that the valley sole has passed.

The winners of the Cup

Mia Pilar Bretfeld from VS Hohen Neuendorf triumphed in the women's category, while Robert Glatzer from SG Zechin won the men's ranking. The team ranking went to WSG 81 Königs Wusterhausen. The Cup series, which has been touring Brandenburg since reunification, remains the oldest and largest running event in the country and attracts participants from all corners of Germany. The anticipation for the next events is already noticeable, because the dates for 2025 have been determined and promise exciting competitions again!
